Week 08 Wool Market Review
The market gave up some of previous week’s spectacular gains when the AWEX EMI finished at 2068¢, 48¢ lower (-2.3%)
in Australian currency and 18¢ lower (-1.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney and Melbourne this week.
However, the EMI is still 78¢ higher in $A and 40¢ higher in $US than it was two weeks ago
29,691 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 36,302 bales last sale. 10.8% of the offering was passed in.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $63.5 million ($2,396 per bale), taking the season total to $415.4 million,
14% higher than at the same time last year.
