The AWEX EMI finished 8¢ higher (+0.5%) in Australian currency and 13¢ higher (+1.1%) in US currency at the first sale of the new season in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle this week.
This was the first lift in the EMI since Week 48 when the EMI rose from 1833¢ to 1887¢.
30,991 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 29,167 bales last sale. 6.4% of the offering was passed in.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $53.9 million ($1,858 per bale), taking the season total to $53.9 million. Last season’s average was $2,140 per bale.
