AWIS WOOL MARKET REVIEW
Week Ending 6 September 2019 (Week 10).
There were some positive signs in the market at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle this week.
Although the AWEX EMI finished 10¢ lower (-0.7%) at 1365¢ in Australian currency, it was up by 7¢ (+0.8%) in US currency; and up by 22¢ in A$ and by 21¢ in US$ on Thursday.
There were trade reports were of stronger competition in the sale rooms and of some business being done late last week.
21,694 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 25,272 bales last sale. 11.8% of the offering was passed in; and 24.3% of the initial offering was withdrawn prior to sale.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $29.2 million ($1,526 per bale), taking the season total to $295.1 million ($1,743 per bale).
