Week 31 Wool Market Report

The AWEX EMI finished 42¢ higher (+3.0%) in Australian currency and 36¢ higher (+3.6%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 31. 40,603 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 44,098 bales last sale. 6.8% of the offering was passed in after 2.7% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 37,848 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $62.5 million ($1,651 per bale), taking the season total to $1.365 billion ($1,607 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 15.2% greater than in 2020/21.
