Wool shines at ISPO, Munich
Attracting more than 2,850 exhibitors from over 55 countries to exhibit at their January show to 80,000 visitors, ISPO Munich is the world’s largest multi-segment trade show in sports with exhibitors presenting their latest sports products for the upcoming Autumn/Winter season segments for Snowsports, Outdoor, Health and Fitness, Urban and Teamsports.
Some of the larger and more renowned brands on display included Adidas, Patagonia, Icebreaker and The North Face, all showcasing a range of products from next-to-skin wear, mid-based layers and outerwear jumpers, jackets and accessories.
Fox & Lillie regularly attend these major events to stay abreast of the current trends influencing the outdoor industry and their key focuses. This information is important to relay back to our Australian woolgrowers to keep them connected to the other end of the supply chain and some of the various factors that may influence the wool market.
Natural fibres and recycled materials were a big highlight at the four-day event with outdoor brands placing significant importance on sourcing sustainable materials. Brands can no longer cherry pick their product claims on sustainability but are having to apply responsibility through the entire supply chain from fibre sourcing, production, packing, transport and retail.
Traceability continues to be a principal focus and brands are very interested in working towards achieving greater visibility in their product lines which allows them to connect back to the woolgrowers in which they are sourcing from.
Overall the general feedback from brands is that sales in the outdoor industry are continuing to grow year on year and many companies have their eyes other markets, looking to expand into countries such as China and the United States.
