Week Ending 12 August 2022 (Week 06) The AWEX EMI finished at 1342¢, 46¢ lower (-3.3%) in Australian currency and 11¢ higher (+1.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 06. 55,363 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 55,210 bales last sale. Grower resistance, particularly in the West, resulted in 22.1% of the offering being passed in after 7.3% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 43,110 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $65.1 million ($1,510 per bale), taking the season total to $212.8 million ($1,607 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 10.2% greater than in 2020/21.
