Week Ending 24 March 2023 (Week 38) The AWEX EMI finished 1¢ higher (+0.1%) in Australian currency and 14¢ higher (+1.6%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 38. 40,224 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 44,049 bales last sale. 8.1% of the offering was passed in after 9.4% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 36,949 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $51.5 million ($1,394 per bale), taking the season total to $1.811 billion ($1,569 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.4% greater than in 2021/22.
