The AWEX EMI finished at 1159¢, 30¢ lower (-2.5%) in Australian currency and 24¢ lower (-2.8%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 21.
34,915 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 37,512 bales last sale. 19.5% of the offering was passed in after 7.1% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 28,100 bales were sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $38.1 million ($1,356 per bale), taking the season total to $592.6 million ($1,241 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 1.0% less than in 2019/20.
The New Zealand Merino Company also offered 1,417 bales in Melbourne on Wednesday, of which 24.4% were passed in.
