The AWEX EMI finished at 1144¢, 6¢ lower (-0.5%) in Australian currency and 2¢ lower (-0.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 23.
35,986 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 36,535 bales last sale. 10.2% of the offering was passed in after 7.6% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 32,323 bales as sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $42.3 million ($1,309 per bale), taking the season total to $679.7 million ($1,257 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 1.4% greater than in 2019/20.
The New Zealand Merino Company also offered 521 bales in Melbourne on Wednesday, of which 9.2% were passed in.
