Week 32 Wool Market Report

AWIS WOOL MARKET REVIEW
Week Ending 5 February 2021 (Week 32)
The AWEX EMI finished at 1285¢, 6¢ lower (-0.5%) in Australian currency and 7¢ lower (-0.7%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 32.
45,126 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 39,841 bales last sale. 9.3% of the offering was passed in after 5.4% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale, leaving 40,924 bales as sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $63.4 million ($1,549 per bale), taking the season total to $1.017 billion ($1,307 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 4.6% greater than in 2019/20. This figure is higher than expected because of the low volumes (24,000 and 26,000) sold in Wools 31 and 32 last year.
