It was a good week in which the AWEX EMI finished 21¢ higher (+1.6%) in Australian currency and 16¢ higher (+1.6%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 43.
40,402 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 46,256 bales last sale. 10.7% of the offering was passed in after 7.9% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 36,094 bales were sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $54.8 million ($1,518 per bale), taking the season total to $1.613 billion ($1,364 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 12.2% greater than in 2019/20.
