The AWEX EMI finished at 1319¢, 23¢ lower (-1.7%) in Australian currency and 27¢ lower (-2.6%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 45.
47,558 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 47,446 bales last sale. 15.3% of the offering was passed in after 5.7% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale, leaving 40,303 bales as sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $61.4 million ($1,523 per bale), taking the season total to $1.743 billion ($1,380 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 17.3% greater than in 2019/20.
