Week Ending 5 November 2021 (Week 18) The AWEX EMI finished 7¢ higher (+0.5%) in Australian currency and 5¢ lower (-0.5%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 18. 38,359 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 40,860 bales last sale. 9.5% of the offering was passed in after 5.7% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 34,698 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $54.9 million ($1,582 per bale), taking the season total to $772.8 million ($1,613 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 24.6% greater than in 2020/21. The New Zealand Merino Company also offered 1,154 bales in Melbourne on Thursday, of which 34.1% were passed in.
