Week Ending 6 May 2022 (Week 44) The AWEX EMI finished 24¢ higher (+1.7%) in Australian currency and 19¢ higher (+1.9%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 44. 40,153 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 48,760 bales last sale. 5.9% of the offering was passed in after 4.3% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 37,797 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $58.6 million ($1,550 per bale), taking the season total to $2.142 billion ($1,600 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 9.6% greater than in 2020/21.
