AWIS WOOL MARKET REVIEW Week Ending 20 January 2023 (Week 29) The AWEX EMI finished 8¢ higher (+0.6%) in Australian currency and 3¢ higher (+0.3%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 29. 47,343 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 50,469 bales last sale. 5.7% of the offering was passed in after 5.0% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 44,631 bales were sold. The Pass-In rate 5.7% was one of the lower values for the season. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $67.9 million ($1,521 per bale), taking the season total to $1.242 billion ($1,576 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 2.4% greater than in 2021/22.
