Week Ending 5 May 2023 (Week 44) The AWEX EMI finished 8¢ higher (+0.6%) in Australian currency and 10¢ higher (+1.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 44. 38,838 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 38,505 bales last sale. 10.6% of the offering was passed in after 6.1% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 34,720 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $50.2 million ($1,446 per bale), taking the season total to $2.090 billion ($1,544 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.2% greater than in 2021/22.
