Week Ending 19 May 2023 (Week 46) The AWEX EMI finished at 1263¢, 21¢ lower (-1.6%) in Australian currency and 28¢ lower (-3.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 46. 42,489 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 43,454 bales last sale. There was strong Seller resistance when 15.4% of the offering was passed in after 7.5% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 35,940 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $50.0 million ($1,375 per bale), taking the season total to $2.186 billion ($1,537 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.2% greater than in 2021/22.
